Sør Cup donates NOK 25 for each participant at the cup to the project Idrett Krysser Grenser. Your participation helps to finance a better everyday life for thousands of children and young people.
Sport Crosses Borders is a project that Sør Cup has had with Mission Alliance since we started the cup in 2008. We provide children and young people in Cambodia, Ecuador, Bolivia and Brazil with safe and free sports and leisure activities. The work is carried out in communities characterized by poverty, drugs, crime and social unrest. Children and young people get an alternative to gangs, idleness and crime.
Meet Leandro from Ecuador
For Leandro, football has been his salvation.
Through Idrett Krysser Grenser, he has been given a safe and good alternative to the brutal gang environment where he lives.
– Thanks to football, I haven’t been tricked into doing bad things like violence and drugs. “Football has taught me values,” Leandro tells us.
– Leandro is one of several examples of how it works. We see that those who are active lead healthier and better lives. In the poorer neighborhoods, the challenges are many: violence, crime, drug abuse, unemployment and poverty. Positive leisure activities can transform young people and entire families, and in many cases even save lives by giving children and young people a safe alternative.
Through the activities, children and young people learn about cooperation and values such as respect, equality, the value of education and the rights of children and girls. They get to experience community, mastery, development and learning in a safe and healthy environment. It gives you the confidence and courage to finish school, apply for studies or start a business. Transforming not just individuals, but entire families and communities.
Sør Cup contributes NOK 25 for each participant at Sør Cup. In addition, we work actively to contribute sponsors to the project and to create revenue-generating events.
